Mom....... remember how I told you that I would try and
share a story with you each week...... well I really picked out a story but the
problem is that I forgot what story it was. :) silly Elder Hodges. So I will
tell a fun story that happened yesterday. :) That was really just a testimony
builder for me. :)
So what happened is that we went to Church here in Kitale branch :) and we were just having a great time talking to every one. :) And also this is President Chirithi's home branch. He is the 1st counselor in the mission presidency here. But he can’t come here a lot. He ends up going around and helping other branches. He is super powerful. :) But anyways he was here. So we went through a nice sacrament meeting. :) Elder Lewis got up and gave a good testimony because this is his last time to be here. He got moved. But I will talk about that in a bit, so we just finished with sacrament meeting and right before we start Sunday school the Sunday school president comes over and asks me if I can give the lesson today. :) Oh ya. :) (I also have to put in a side note that this has happened the last like 4 times, it even happened to me the day before at an elder’s quorum activity for some reason they always pick me not elder Lewis.) But back to the story. Of course I say yes, but all I have time to prepare is to read the intro. to the lesson in the Gospel Principals book. I was asked to do it on Service. So I did and said a short heartfelt prayer as I was getting up to teach begging the Lord to help me out in anyway! :) And what I must say is that the lesson was one of the best I have ever given! I learned so much!!!! I know I learned more then the people I was teaching. But I know that I was not the one giving the lesson. I was just the one whose mouth was being used. I loved every second of it. :) I had my testimony strengthened about how much the Lord will help you after all you can do. I was trying to prepare and I did all I could but it was not enough for a lesson then the Lord did the rest. It was wonderful to feel again in such power the promise the Lord gives to us about when we open our mouths it will be filled in the very moment. :) So I liked that this week :)
So also as I said My comp is leaving he is going to a place called Kilili and it is like Chyulu. :) He will like it. My new comp is from Uganda and his name is Elder Muwanguzi. :) He sounds like a cool kid :) look forward to working with him. :)

OH and also I got an email from Jordan :) that was super cool!! :) thank you for giving him my email :)

Kenya
is great!!!!! it’s getting close to a celebration month so it is going to be
fun :) lol people are getting ready. lol :) I hear it gets kind of crazy.
I am happy that Caleb's baptism went well!! :) I look forward to when I can tell him my self how proud of him I am! :) Can you tell him for me?
Sounds like Utah is on fire. That is kind of scary. I hope that everything goes ok. Do we have any plans for the cabin if something happens?? or what?? Also if it is ok could you send me some pics of the cabin?? I miss that place if it is ok that is one of the places I want to go when I get home.
so Tigger is gone. I won’t lie I really kind of expected it. I thought he would be gone by the time I get home so it’s ok mom. :) But I do know that it happened a little bit ago. because Aimee let something slip about tigger not being there anymore so I had my ideas. :) But it’s ok.
So the story for this week is short but I like it.
We met this guy named Edward. we didn’t know who he was I had never met him before but he knew who we were, and we were just sitting at a table waiting for him to come and he saw us and came and sat down with us. We became good friends and we started talking about the Church he said this: “I have been watching your Church for a long time. I have been hearing what people say about it so I wanted to keep my distance but I was watching from far because I still wanted to know the truth. And I found something. Every one of your members who goes there is always happy they always are cheerful and good to all people. I want that. I want to be happy all the time and I want my family to be like that too.”
So we are always being watched. :) we just need to be the kind of people that the name of the Church talks about. "Saints" people really do see something inside of us. They want it. We just need to give it to them :)
That is cool that the sister in your branch wanted to serve even when her parents didn’t want her to. That is some great faith and some great sacrifice. :)
I am so glad that you told Caleb I am proud of him. and thank you for telling me the story :) I hope I can be the uncle they need and want. Is Aimee going to move to Provo? or what’s going to happen. She has been talking about how she wants to move closer to you guys so that you can help her out.
Also the New Zone is not as strong as the last one. But I can tell you that the last zone was AMAZING we all loved each other and I hope that this one will be able to make it to be like the old one. :)
Sounds like the MTC is going great!! :) Like always :) I hope it stays like that! Please tell everyone there to do their best. And the more they try the more they will be happy when they are out in the field! :) it really makes a difference! Also could you tell Elder Peterson hi for me? :) where is he going?

It sounds like everyone is just having the time of their
lives there at home :) And you’re right in the middle of it all :) You’re just
such a great grandma and mom!! How was
the rodeo? I bet that was just as funny as always. :)
OK are you ready for this week's story? well here it is:
On Thursday I went on exchanges with some one of the missionaries in the zone. I had to do some baptismal interviews. :) and they are in a really bush part of the zone. And what we did was that we went and saw a recent convert and talked to her for a little bit. Then we had to go to the interviews. And getting there was CRAZY!!!! We had to clime a dang mountain!!!! It was like hiking the Y but not using the trail and just going straight up!!! It was crazy!!!!! There was no trail and we just had to clime up some big rocks and all of these things and we even had to cross some steams to get to the top of this thing. And let me tell you it was sup beautiful when we got to the top!!!! :) we could see everything!!! :) But I could only see that beauty when I could breathe again. :) I don’t know how to let you know how much of I hike this was but it was crazy!!! But what is so wonderful about this story; I think is shows how much the Lord loves his children. No matter how far or how out of the way people are, if they want to gospel it will come. :) It is just great to think of that. :)

I have been having a wonderful time the work is going good
and just everything is fun and enjoyable :) I am learning so much out here I
hope that I don’t mess up in my learning. :) I know the Lord will help me He
always dose. :) But like I said I am doing very well. It is so cool that
everyone is home and having a great time!!!!! :) :) But I also know that you
are happy that it is only for a short time. :) I hope that you and Aimee do ok
down in Vegas. :) I know you will. :) How are the dogs doing at the house??? I
bet it is easier without the cat. :) With
all the heat I bet that the pool has been getting its share of use this year.
:) Have you gotten in?? I bet it feels so good!!! it is weird to think about
swimming now. :) But I have gotten into the rivers and steams to cross and also
I put my feet into the Indian ocean :) that
was fun! :) it felt really nice. :) But that was along time ago it feels like.
Ok so the story this week is not really a story but just something that amazes me about someone’s faith I hope that’s ok. But I guess you will read whatever I put on here so here it goes. :)
So we went and saw a member in Sikhendu. She is a mama of around 68 years old. Her husband died along time ago. But she has been SO good at raising her kids some when on missions and they are just great people!!! This mama's name is Mama (I wish I could hear you say this the first time :) ) Kandawala :) hahah good luck with that one. :) So she dose not live very far from the Church so it is not too hard for her to come. But now we get to it. She does not know any English and church is done in English. So she does not understand a thing when she goes to church, (I bet that she has some friends that help her out.) But her faith is amazing!!!! She is almost always the 1st one in church on Sunday! :) she does not care that she can’t understand what the people say or what the lesson is. What she knows is that this is the Church of God and this is where she needs to be!!!! :) I love her so much even though I can’t talk to her. But I am happy that God let me meet such a wonderful women!!! :)
So it’s not much of a story but it is something :) I hope you tune in next week of another nail biting tail from the mission life of Elder Hodges :)
hahah
Dad….Aloha???? what????? :) Your thinking a different place :) here we say "Habri yako" :) means “how are you.”
Well I'm doing well. :) we are still going along and along in all things :) We have also gotten a lot of referrals from one of the members and the work here is really picking up!!!! Like a lot of the time we have too much to do we can’t get it all done.!!!!! :) it’s great to almost always have someone to teach! :) So I am doing very well :) I was really happy in church when we had 6 investigators at sacrament meeting!!! that was great!!!! and some of them come from FAR FAR FAR FAR. A place called Charingani :) ( I want to hear you say that next time I see you :) ) But they came and that was great!!!! :) So like I said I am doing super great!!!! :)
My new comp is cool :) we have a really good time together! :) We like to joke around so we have a lot of fun! :) We had some really intense conversations when we first got here. Just about things that needed to be fixed. I know putting his name on the prayer role did a lot of good I hope he will keep moving forward :) I know he will! :) But we have a good time :)
Your asking me if I have gotten mugged???? hahaha :) Well I guess it depends on what you mean by mugged. Like people trying to steal from me? Oh ya that happens all the time. But by gun point or anything like that. No. I am being blessed. I know some guys in the mission that have gotten mugged though. And we have heard some strange things about parts of our area but we are doing well :) don’t you worry. And I have to ask. did that question come from someone kid at the MTC???

We really almost always speak, teach or do something in
Church or in branch council or some other thing. It just happens all the time.
I have learned to just expect it. :)
I love you all!
